WorkWise Academy was founded by Dr. Leigh Coney to close a gap he saw every day in his consulting work. Business professionals had brilliant ideas for tools and processes, but no path to build them without months of engineering time or expensive contractors.
AI changed that. Leigh built WorkWise Academy to teach professionals to use this shift. Conversational AI is a practical building skill. Anyone can learn it.
Founder
Leigh holds a PhD in how humans interact with emerging technology. Before founding WorkWise Solutions, he spent a decade in academic research studying how professionals acquire new skills (particularly technical skills outside their domain expertise).
WorkWise Solutions, the AI consulting firm he founded, works with mid-market companies to identify high-impact AI use cases and build the tools to realise them. Through that work, Leigh found that the most sustainable impact came from teaching clients to build tools themselves, not from building tools for them.
WorkWise Academy is where that insight became a curriculum. It combines Leigh's research background in learning science with the hands-on, project-driven approach his consulting clients respond to. He continues to teach in the program and leads all executive briefings personally.
Leigh has taught at the university level, published research on technology-mediated learning, and spoken at conferences on AI, education, and how organisations build new capability.
Our Approach
Three principles from cognitive science, built into every module.
Every module ends with a working, deployable tool. Not a quiz. Not a theoretical exercise. Adults learn by doing, and real output starts on day one.
Spaced repetition, increasing complexity, and immediate application. Leigh's research background shapes every lesson so you use what you learned within the same session.
We measure success by what graduates build and deploy. Not completion rates or satisfaction scores. If you finish the program and haven't built something useful, we haven't done our job.

WorkWise Academy is the education arm of WorkWise Solutions, an AI consulting firm that helps mid-market companies identify and implement high-impact AI use cases. Our curriculum is informed by the real challenges and opportunities we see in our consulting work every day.
This connection means our teaching stays current. We don't teach from a textbook written two years ago. We teach from the patterns and techniques we're using with clients right now.

2024
The AI Building Insight
Through consulting engagements, Leigh identifies that AI-assisted building is accessible to non-technical professionals. She begins developing the curriculum that will become WorkWise Academy.
2025
WorkWise Academy Launches
The first cohort of business professionals completes The AI-Ready Professional program. The self-paced course goes live and graduates start shipping tools their first week back at work.

Enterprise Program Introduced
Team training program launches with custom cohorts for organisations. Executive briefings begin for leadership teams.

Expanding Reach
New cohorts enrolling quarterly, with an expanding library of resources, case studies, and an active graduate community.
